WHAT IS TOYBOX?
Children who have little in the way of belongings look forward to Christmas with
expectations the same as all children. Folks who are able to contribute to these
needs help eliminate a disappointing Christmas for kids in the Cape
Girardeau community who need a little help.
Contributions to Toybox help fill a need for children who may not otherwise receive gifts at Christmas. The Toybox program served more than 1,200 children from birth to 12 years of age last year and continues in its 36th year to reach out to children with new toys.
Cape Girardeau teacher Tracy Haggerty, organizer for this
year's Toybox program, said many of the requests for children's toys have been
for educational toys. Examples include See 'n Say or Leapster toys. Donations
can be dropped off at the Southeast Missourian offices. Tax-deductible monetary
donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, Mo. 63702-0004.
